In today's era, the battery industry has taken on an important role in changing our lives and economy. In the future, the area of batteries is expected to further expand with electric vehicles, energy storage devices, drones, robots, and AI systems.
One of the most important issues in battery production is its production price. The most effective means of lowering production costs is to lower costs in electrode production.
As a method to lower the production cost of electrodes, a dry coating method was developed and applied to some production, and it was confirmed that costs could be lowered by overcoming the energy and equipment problems required for evaporation and recovery of harmful solvents, which were problematic in the wet method.
We are already seeing the effects of overcoming the limitations of the conventional electrode characteristics by applying the dry coating method. It has been reported that thick film electrodes can be easily obtained, and that the output and charge/discharge cycles of the electrodes have significantly increased.
However, dry coating methods are still in their infancy, various technologies are competing with each other, and further improvements in production technology, composition, and manufacturing methods are needed.
It is predicted that within a few years there will be a transition from wet methods to dry methods.
